(Chapter 25)Abraham takes another wife Keturah, who bore him six children. Abraham's possessions go to Isaac. Gifts were given to the sons of his concubines, sending them east, away from Isaac. Abraham expired at 175 years of age and was buried next to his wife, Sarah, by Isaac and Ishmael. Isaac, who married Rebekah at forty, pleaded with the Lord, as his wife was barren and she conceived twins. Esau and Jacob and sixty-year-old Isaac rejoiced. Esau sold his birthright to Jacob, a simple man and Rebekah's favorite. Esau, a hunter pleased Isaac by making him stew.
(Chapter 26)During the time of a famine in the land, Isaac went to Abimelech, King of the Philistines, an Gerar, where he dwelt. Isaac said Rebekah was his sister, but Abimelech saw Isaac showing her endearment and confronted him saying, "Why have you done this to us? One of the people could easily have lain with your wife, and would have brought guilt on us." Abimelech forbid anyone touching "this man or his wife" or they would be put to death. Wells were built and the Lord prospered them. They swore oaths together, Esau at forty took two wives, Judith and Basemath. They were contentious with Isaac and Rebekah.
