Reading the Bible in one year

Chapters 1,2,3. Exodus. Taken from the Orthodox Study Bible

In Chapter one, a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph, felt threatened by the Israelites who grew in great number, and who were stronger than they were. Should they unite with a neighbor, they would fight against them.
(11)."Therefore he set taskmasters over them to afflict them in their works; and they built for Pharaoh strong cities--Pithom and Raamses and On, which is Heliopolis." Their lives were bitter with hard labor, a life of violence. Then the king ordered the mid-wives to kill at birth all male children. They said that they were born before they could, because they couldn't carry out the deed. So Pharaoh commanded all male born children be cast into the river, every female saved.

Chapter two finds a beautiful three-month old child saved but as he could not be hidden any longer, placed in a basket and laid in the reeds. The daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe and found the baby. She had him nursed by his mother, for payment. Pharaoh's daughters son was called Moses, meaning he was drawn out of the water.

When Moses was grown he went to his brethren and saw their suffering and burdens, killing an Egyptian, he hid him away. When Pharaoh heard he sought to kill Moses. Moses fled and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.
Moses delivered Reuel's daughters from the shepherds, drew enough water for them and their sheep. (21)"Then Moses dwelt with the man, and he gave Zipporah his daughter to Moses."
They had a son, Gershom; meaning a sojourner in a foreign land. God heard the groans of the Israelites and remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Chapter three. Moses was tending sheep and an angel appeared to him in a flame of fire, but the bush was not consuming. It raised his curiosity. God called out to him and told him not to come closer. He was on holy ground. Removing his sandals as told, Moses hid his face, afraid to look at God.
God told Moses his name and that he had heard and seen the affliction of My people in Egypt and that Moses would be used to free the oppressed people by delivering them out of Pharaoh's hands and the land of Egypt, into the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Gergesites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey. They would not go empty handed but with articles of gold, silver, and clothing, plundering the Egyptians. (19)."But I know Pharaoh the king of Egypt will not let you go, not even by a mighty hand." (20)."Thus I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all My wonders which I will work among them; and after that he will let you go.
